Always a “people person”, Carolyn gets as much pleasure as her clients from organising a successful event. The key, she believes, is to plan everything down to the smallest detail, including a programme to ensure the wives and partners are well catered for and entertained.

For Carolyn this industry, with its long hours and hard work, has been the story of her working life. With over 20 years experience in the hotel and hospitality industry, her work has taken her to roles at the Portland Hotel in Thorndon and Hotel Rafael on Oriental Bay, Wellington, and Maungapapa, a luxury Hawkes Bay Lodge in the former Wattie Homestead.

For the last five years, until it’s closure, she has been the General Manager of the Frederic Wallis House Conference and Retreat Centre, in Lower Hutt. Carolyn is the fifth generation of her family to be associated with Frederic Wallis House. Her role there involved her in organising a wide range of events, from large professional conferences to small group meetings and retreats and charitable fund-raising for schools and not-for-profit groups. In this role Carolyn saw the need for conference and event support for charitable organisations and not-for-profit groups. With Carolyn J Limited,she is building upon her work in these areas.

While Carolyn is au fait with both the Wellington and Hutt Valley areas, she is can see great potential in the Lower Hutt area and what it offers and has built up an extensive portfolio of local scene venues.
